Day 11: Prospect's (Death) March

Dear whoever is in charge of shoveling the walks on Prospect Ave,

Fuck you.

Love,
Ryan

As you may have guessed, I had a wee bit of trouble with today's run. It was by far the most physically demanding, thanks in large part to the apparent apathy of Milwaukee's snow crew. I guess they ran out of crazy blue salt to pour.

In addition to my muscles freezing up rather quickly, I had the added joy of running on what appeared to be un-shoveled sidewalks. From Wisconsin/Cass all the way to Prospect-Astor/Kilbourne, I had to struggle to stay on my feet as the snow was so packed. My left calf took quite a beating working its way up the incline heading north on Prospect, something that I had to struggle with the rest of the way. Despite the slippery sidewalks and the slush-covered intersections, the worst part of the run came just west of the bridge on Kilbourne. While the rest of the walks at least showed some semblance of effort to clear the snow, it was obvious that no one had even thought about clearing the sidewalks at Plankinton and Kilbourne - I had to literally run through a snowbank to get through.

Despite the snowbank's insistence I halt, I chose not to heed its warning and ran through it

The run was very a frustrating one; I had to slow to a walk at some places to make sure I didn't slip or fall knee-deep in slush, the temperature stiffened my muscles, the cold made it difficult to breath at time, and the wind seemed to always be blowing in my face.

Despite the difficulty, it finished with my best 3-mile time yet. Maybe I'm starting to get into this whole "yogging" thing.

After the run, I headed to the Plex for a very successful lifting session. My only issue is finding a back workout that suits me. None have quite convince me, so I'm still looking for one I like. Any suggestions?
