Day 24

Instead of going for the longer run like I was considering, I decided to stuck with the 2-miler. To make it a bit more challenging, I decided to push as hard as I could.

The cold weather made it hard on my legs, but I ran a great time.

3.5 miles tomorrow

Day 23

Today's weather did not bode well for running, both in terms of ground conditions and physical ability.

Since the shift in temperature and air pressure was rather sudden, my ankle was not doing so well. While I was getting suited up to run, I had shooting pains on the outside of my ankle that made it difficult to keep any pressure on it. I also was limited in my range of motion. After trying to stretch it out to no avail, I decided to call it a day, instead of risking further aggravation.

Since I have the option of either running 2 miles or cross-training tomorrow, I'll take the run option. I'll try to go for 3 miles, just to make sure I don't dog it too much.

Let's hope the weather is a little more friendly tomorrow.

Day 22

Just a quick update today. Intramural indoor soccer went well. I played in the field for the first time this season, playing about 15 of the 30 minutes. The knee is a bit stiff, but it was good to get some work on it.

Tomorrow is a 3.5-miler (last run, ~30:30).

Day 21

Thanks to my minor knee setback, today was my first run in 5 days. And possibly my best to date.

Returning to training after a thumb and leg injury, I had the longest run so far (5-miler). Running an 8:30 pace, I finished the final mile below 8 minutes. Considering the lay-off and the recent injury, I am very happy with the time.

Back to the "pitch" tomorrow.

Days 19 & 20

Thursday's appointment went almost as well as I could have hoped. Dr. Grove diagnosed it as acute traumatic suprapatellar bursitis (swelling of the suprapatellar bursa) and a mild quad contusion. Hadn't even considered bursitis, but I'm glad to hear it's not worse.Just recommended a walk/bike session on Friday for cross, a casual run on Saturday, and take the day of from footy on Sunday.

Friday's cross was, as suggested, a walk down to the Lakefront with Kathy.

The knee feels around 80%, but it shouldn't get in the way of my run tomorrow.

Okay, I got 4 hours of sleep last night, so it's nap time.
